We are in the business of making memories in our family. We may not have much to give, but we know how to spend time together as a family. We want our children to have rich memories and remember their childhood with fondness.
During Christmas, we are especially purposeful to keep things simple and keep Christ at the center. One tradition we started a few years ago is a pancake birthday cake for Jesus.
The monkey dad gets up before everyone else and whips up some pancakes. He puts three candles on top of the stack to represent the Trinity (God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit). We read the Christmas story, spend some time praying and thanking Jesus for his birth, then sing Happy Birthday to Jesus. Everyone joins in blowing out the candles and eating yummy pancakes!
